There are a number of ways the show could have disposed of the valuable inventions but giving them to Laurel Hitchin was intentional and likely means we will see more of her (and perhaps more of The Cabal) later this season. Is there reason to question Dembe’s loyalty?īy the way, I want to give a quick shout-out to the folks participating in the WSJ TV Club conversation about the show. It is quite telling when Red tells his closest friend, “You did nothing,” and Dembe replies, “Exactly.” Clearly Dembe regrets not interfering in Red’s punishment of Mr.Kaplan. Dembe feels tremendous guilt over her fate. But, that is OK since the specter of her fate casts a long shadow over the episode. Kaplan – After leaving us with a cliffhanger last week, we don’t see a single moment of Mr. As I said, it is lazy storytelling and not typical of the quality we usually see on “The Blacklist.”Ģ. That is cold-blooded! And the episode never explains to us why this man hates these other inventors so much. It is not enough to kill Omar’s wife he lets her read her own fake suicide note before grabbing her and slitting her wrists. It is not enough to kill Omar Nazar, he paralyzes him so Omar can see death coming, but do nothing about it. It is also worth noting that Silas is incredibly cruel when committing murder. It is never clear how Red would have any idea at all about what Silas has stolen to say nothing of the fact that there’s no way Red could know much about the brilliant ideas that “The Lindquist Concern” has obtained. He’s a loner and it seems making money is the last thing on his mind. We are supposed to believe that Silas wanders around science fairs and finds ideas that can change the world? Really? Red initially tells us that Silas is a man that corporations hire to get rid of competitive ideas, but that is not how the story plays out. The whole story of secret inventors just feels really lazy. The Lindquist Concern - When we first meet Silas Gouldsberry, it appears he is stealing a machine for checking the chlorine level in swimming pools.
